Drumming As Healing

Drumming has been used, by indigenous people around the world, throughout the ages in ceremonies, rites of passage, to meditate and for healing. It can help in many ways e.g communication, listening, co-ordination, counting, working as part of a team, focus and concentration. If the drum is played with a slow, steady rhythm it can be very relaxing, trance inducing and can alter the brain-wave pattern to alpha-theta (where optimum healing occurs), possibly even beyond. Played firmer and faster it feels, energising, empowering and centring. Drumming also has the ability to drive away negativity and stagnant energy. Most of all it’s fun.
